Ia:
The division was ordered formed on 24 Sep 1944, but formation was cancelled on 25 Oct 1944. The newly formed Fallschirm-Luftnachrichten-Abteilung was transferred to the army (85th Infanterie-Division) on 2 Jan 1945.
The division was reformed Dec 1944 to Feb 1945 in the Stettin area, from various regular and ad-hoc units and consisted of the following units:
In late Feb 1945 II./FJR.25 and III./FJR.26 were flown into Festung Breslau and left the division. The division saw combat in the Stargard-Dramburg area, and was refreshed in the Prenzlau area (Mar 1945). Was to have absorbed elements of the 2. Fallschirm-Jäger-Division by 23 Mar 1945, but this was apparently cancelled. On 8 Apr 1945 still had 11600 men in the Berlin area. Surrendered to the Russians May 1945.
The division had served under the following headquarters:
Feb 1945 | stellv. II. AK / AOK.11 | Stargard |
Mar 1945 | stellv. II. AK / PzAOK.3 | Stettin, Prenzlau |
Apr 1945 | XI. SS / AOK.9 | Bridgehead Kustrin |
May 1945 | LVI. AK | Zechlin, Gusow, Berlin area |
Replacement troops were provided by Fallschirm-Jäger-Ersatz-Bataillon 4.
