Formed 16 Dec 1936 in Brandis as BFS Brandis, from Blindfluglehrgang Brandis (formed 1 Oct 1935).

A Navigationslehrgang was formed in 1937, but moved to Anklam on 1 Oct 1937.

On 1 Jan 1940 renamed BFS Brandis-Waldpolenz.

On 15 Jan 1940 redesignated Blindflugschule 1 (BFS 1).

On 15 Oct 1943 redesignated Flugzeugführerschule B 31.

Pilot training ended mid-1944. Disbanded 16 Apr 1945.

Used the following aircraft: Do 17, Fw 58, He 111, He 177, Ju 52, Ju 86, Ju 88 and Si 204
