Flughafenbetriebskompanien
Overview:
The Flughafenbetriebskompanie´s (FBK) primary duty was repair and service for all the aircraft of a specific unit. The FBK belonged to the various Gruppen of the heavier units, incl. Kampfgeschwader, Sturzkampfgeschwader, Zerstorergeschwader, and various reconnaissance and transport units.
Normally fully motorised, consisted of 150 men, and was divided into 4 platoons (züge) - 3 Betriebszüge and 1 Werkstattzug, and would normally follow the Gruppe around to the various bases.
Initially most Gruppen had 2 FBK 's, but this was changed to one each, after Jan 1943.

Formed May 1940 in Copenhagen(?). Disbanded Feb 1945.

2. Flughafenbetriebskompanie KG40
Formed 10 Jan 1943 in Soesterberg from 4.FBK-KG40. In Jun 1943 redesignated 5.FBK-KG2.
Reformed Oct 1943 in Burg from 1.FBK-KG50. Disbanded Feb 1945.

Formed 10 Jan 1943 in Bordeaux-Merignac. Disbanded Feb 1945.

Formed May 1941 in Lüneburg. On 10 Jan 1943 redesignated 2.FBK-KG40.
Reformed Jan 1943 in Chateaudun from 10.FBK-KG40.
Served with II./KG40 (May 1941 - Jan 1943) and IV./KG40 (Jan 1943 - Mar 1945)

Formed Jan 1943 in Kerlin-Bastard from 2.FBK-KG53. In Oct 1943 redesignated Stabskompanie I./ZG1.
Served with V./KG40 (Jan 1943 - Oct 1943)
10. Flughafenbetriebskompanie KG40
Formed Jul 1941 in Orleans-Bricy. On 10 Jan 1943 redesignated 4.FBK-KG40.
Served with IV./KG40 (Jul 1941 - Jan 1943)
