Formed Apr 1944 at Verdun and Toul, France. In August 1944 the IV.Battalion was renamed Genesenden-Bataillon der Fallschirm-Armee. Withdrawn from France after the Allied invasion, and was disbanded. Reformed Jan 1945 in Celle (I. at Helmstedt, II. at Haselünne). Subordinated to the Fallschirm-Jäger-Ausbildungs- und Ersatz-Division. Disbanded 5 Apr 1945, and was used to create the 20. Fallschirm-Jäger-Division (FJR.59) with 4151 men.
