Formed 1 Jan 1935 in Salzwedel as Flieger-Ausbildungsstelle Salzwedel, from 1 Aug 1937 as FFS B Salzwedel and from 1 Nov 1938 FFA A/B Salzwedel. On 1 Apr 1939 attached to now as Schule/FAR.42.

On 1 Nov 1940 redesignated Flugzeugführerschule A/B 120 (FFS A/B 120).

Reformed 1 Nov 1940 in Neustadt-Glewe from Schule/FAR.22 (as Schule/FAR.42). On 1 Oct 1941 redesignated Flugzeugführerschule A/B 42 (FFS A/B 42).

On 15 Oct 1943 redesignated Flugzeugführerschule A 42.

Disbanded 9 Jan 1945
