I./FJR.1 was formed at Stendal 1 Apr 1938, from the IV./Regiment General Göring (Landespolizei).

II./FJR.1 was formed 1 Jan 1939 from the the Fallschirm-Bataillon des Heeres in Braunschweig, together with an all new III./FJR.1 in Gardelegen.

The regiment did not receive a Stab until 1 Jun 1939, when a Stab was formed in Stendal.

The Regiment began the war with 3 Battalions, each with 4 companies.

In March 1944 a new III/FJR.1 had to be formed, as the old III./FJR.1 was used to create the

Organisation:

  • 1939: I. 1-4, II. 5-8, III. 9-12
  • 1940: I. 1-4, II. 5-8, III. 9-12, 13, 14
  • 1944: I. 1-4, II. 5-8, III. 9-12, 13, 14, 15 (Pi.)

Saw action independently under but from May 43 was part of the :

  • Poland, 14.9 to 24 Sep 1939
  • Denmark (Falster, Aalborg), 9 Apr 1940
  • Norway (Stavanger-Sola, Oslo-Fornebu, Dombas), Sep 194 to 14 Apr 1940
  • Norway (Narvik), 26.5 to 9 Jun 1940
  • Holland (Leyden, Rotterdam, Moerdijk), 10 May 1940
  • Crete (Heraklion), 20.5 to 2 Jun 1941
  • Russia (Leningrad, Volkhov, Rshev, Orel), late September 1941 to early 1943
