Formed in Winter 41/42 as Schutzen-Bataillon General Göring*.

In Jul 1942 strengthened and renamed Schutzen-Regiment Hermann Göring.

In Feb 1943 renamed Grenadier-Regiment 1 Hermann Göring (initially with no number). In the same month III. battalion (Stab only) was redesignated I. became new III. and a new I. battalion was formed.

The regiment was destroyed May 1943 in Africa.

Reformed May 1943 in Sicily as Panzergrenadier-Regiment 1 Hermann Göring.

In Jul 1944 renamed Fallschirm-Panzergrenadier-Regiment 1 Hermann Göring.

On 24 Sep 1944 redesignated and was reformed from the old In Dec 1944 the I. battalion was redesignated and was reformed from the III. battalion. A new III. was formed in 1945.

The III. battalion apparently stayed in Luftgau III in 1945.

* An earlier Schutzen-Bataillon General Göring existed between Mar 1941 and Nov 1941, and saw action in Romania and South Russia.
