Photo description: CRIPPLED MARAUDER BRINGS CREW HOME SAFELY Front view of the ship, it's pretty plexiglass nose busted into pieces, & further cracked almost in two & the left engine completely knocked off. WITH MAJOR GENERAL DOOLITTLE'S STRATEGIC AIR FORCE, June 15, 1943.-This is the way one Martin Marauder looked After it got heme from a "routine" fit. over Sicily. Riddled by heavy flak and bullets from enemy fighters, the sturdy bomber took all the Nazis could give it, and then brought its crew safely home. It was the 3rd time that 1st. Lt. John B. Stumm, 2175 Chaucer Road, San Marino, Calif., had made a crash landing at his home base in N. Africa after combat missions, & he's getting a little annoyed at the rough landings, but he' thankful he can depend on the Marauder to come home regardless of handicaps.(U.S. Air Force Number 24117AC) and (U.S. Air Force Number A24117AC)
