On August 4, 1944 this aircraft, piloted by squadrom commander Major Glenn F. Grau, led a mission to bomb a railroad bridge across the Aure River at Saint Remi-sur-Aure. The target was obscured by cloud cover and, after four runs on target, the mission was abandoned. As the flight started for home a slight navigation error took the formation over flak installations and it was severely shot up. This aircraft had its hydraulics shot out, prompting Major Grau and his crew to make an emergency landing at a short PSP fighter strip in Normandy. Grau said of his landing, "...having no hydraulics, [I] pretty much turned it into junk." Grau's crew on that mission was:

Grau added that he did not have any recollection of any name being painted on the aircraft. He did say he had intended to name it Los Lobos Grande II.
