The photo was taken in Gdańsk Poland on 09/19/1939. The sign below the cabin is the personal character of the pilot. On 29th March 1942 the aircraft was converted to a Bf 109E-7 and serviced with the 5./JG5. This aircraft was later lost with Hermann Hesse who was KIA on when he crashed near Urajoki, east of Pakkina Finland. His body was found three weeks later and buried at Petsamo-Parkkina (A.Brekken & R.Rautio). Bf 109E-7 WNr 5947 (2947?) 'Red 1+-' (lost 3/29/42)

Pictures taken after 1/09/1939 since we can see the bullet's hole through the cabin! J. Vasco (see coll. J. Vasco under picture) does confirm that he owns the pictures (all photo album and copy of logbook), that he did make an interview with Hintze and that it is Hintze plane (see bullet's hole under canopy) taken in Przasnysz, that is between 10/9 and 18/9 so ZG 1 not JGr. 101!!!

Remarks: While in TrGr-186, he made a force-landing near Veurne on 1 June, 1940 after being damaged during aerial combat. He was uninjured (TrGr Loss List). Battle of Britain pilot, most likely a Group or Staffel Kdr. for Rubensdörffer. British POW 29 October, 1940 when he had to bale out of his E-4 over London England after aerial combat with a Spitfire. One known victory, a Blenheim 'P8867' on 1 April, 1940, piloted by F/O Harries while in 5(J)/TrGr-186. A second, a Hudson into the North Sea north of Borkum, 12 May, 1940. Deceased 9 May, 1999.
