Z7986 to Turkish Air Force. Z7435 was one of four 21 Sqdn Blenheims lost on this operation. See: V5825; V6436; Z7447. Airborne 1446 from Watton. Cause of loss not established. Crashed at Rozenburg (Zuid Holland), 16 km WSW of Rotterdam exactly the same crash-site as 88 Sqdn Blenheim L9379 on the same operation. All are buried in the Hook of Holland General Cemetery. Low-level oblique aerial photograph taken during an attack on an enemy radio-equipped trawler off Borkum Island by three Bristol Blenheim Mark IVs of No. 21 Squadron RAF. Sergeant E A R R Leaver's aircraft, V6034 'YH-D', can be seen (left) spinning out of control after hitting the ship's mast during his attack. The 21 year- old pilot and his crew, Sergeant I Overheu and Sergeant J Phelps, were all killed, although the "squealer" (a vessel equipped with radio to warn enemy shipping of impending aerial attack) was sunk.

Low-level oblique photograph taken from a Bristol Blenheim Mark IV of No. 2 Group as it left the target area during a costly low-level raid on the docks at Rotterdam. 18 aircraft, drawn from Nos. 21, 110 and 226 Squadrons RAF, took part in the raid, during which 1 crashed on take off and 7 were shot down over the target, although three large cargo ships were sunk at their moorings and other damage was caused in the docks.
