On 19 March 1940 U.S. Navy Lt. John Smith "Jimmy" Thach tipped this Brewster F2A-1 Buffalo (BuNo 1393) onto its nose on the flight deck of the circraft carrier USS Saratoga [CV-3) Ensign Edward Butch O'Hare also flew this aircraft several times during the summer and fall of 1940.
