Visible on the engine cowling is the Staffel emblem of a dark-skinned Arabian boy wearing a red suit and fez holding on to a yellow rope while raising a dark-coloured flute to his mouth. Formed at Milnster-Loddenheide in 1940, by May 1942 the Staffel was operating under NAGr. 16 within Generaloberst von Richthofen's Luftflotte 4 where it remained until March 1943, when it was redesignated as the 2./NAGr.2.
