ANES Anonymous Ferry Company of Symi

A.N.E.S. is a company with about 1300 share holders which are mainly residents of Symi and Rhodes islands. Founded in 1979 targeted the the transportation and commercial and tourist problems alowing Symi residents to stay in their island permanently without the need to move out of the island.[1]

Short History of A.N.E.S.

  • 1980: Bought Symi I ferry
  • 1985: Upgrade of Symi I ferry to increase its transport capacity and quality of services
  • 1986: Started building the catamaran E/G Symi II and completed in 1989 where it started service
  • 1989: Partnership of 30% of the creation of Symi gas station with the municipality of Symi
  • 1994: Replaced the main engines of Symi I with new better engines
  • 1998: Bought flying dolphin Aigli
  • 2001: Bought Catamaran Panormitis
  • 2003: Sold Symi I ferry
  • 2006: Chartered Proteus ferry
  • 2007: Sold Panormitis ferry
  • 2007: Bought St. Nectarios ferry
  • 2008: Bought Proteus ferry
