Formed Jan 1944 at Reims with only I./FAR.3. The remainder of the regiment was not formed until June 1944, when the Stab, II. and III./FAR.3 was formed. Apparently the regiment escaped most of the destruction in Normandy and beyond.

In 8 Feb 1945 the regiment was totally re-organised: Stab and III./FAR.3 becoming Stab and III./FAR.12 and II./FAR.3 becoming II./FAR.7. The old I./FAR.3 became the new II./FAR.3. New Stab, I. and III./FAR.3 formed from Stab, II. and III./FAR.4.
