Some Known Attacks:

  • 15th June 1942 1800 hrs Western Med: An evening attack on two freighters and remaining escort (Welshman had joined, heading west) by 9x Ju88s of KFlGr 606 escorted by Bf109s. CAP was 4 Spits of No. 601, more than 35 miles out. 1 Ju88 lost, 1 Spit lost (pilot recovered).
  • 15th June 1942 1830 hrs Malta: Flight from No. 185 intercepts last attack from KFlGr606 (12 Ju88s, Bf109 escort) as the sun sets. 12 attack the convoy, two within 30 ft of Troilus, but cause no damage. 2nd Flight from No. 185 ran into 20 Ju88s escorted by 10 Bf109s. 1 Bf109 claimed, 1 Spit lost (pilot picked up). Flight from No. 249 tangles with Z.1007bis escorted by 109s.
